Frequently asked Questions

Can I cancel or reschedule if something comes up?

I understand the complexities of family life and aim to be as flexible as possible.   I do not charge cancellation fees. All I ask is that you give me as much notice as possible, preferably within 24 hours and we can reschedule to another suitable date.

We are very fortunate with the weather in Perth.  However rain or strong winds are not ideal. If these conditions are forecasted, I will be in touch base, and if needed, we will reschedule or change locations.

Is there a preferred time of day for photography?

Outdoor sessions will be centered around the 'golden hour', which occurs during the hour before sunset. This is the most magical time to shoot and will result in the most flattering images. The timing will vary depending on the season, with starting times typically between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm. If this time is simply not possible, please contact me so we can discuss alternative options.

In-home sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 4 pm. These often suit newborn sessions as we have more flexibility with the timing.

The location is entirely your choice; however, I am happy to suggest some of my most loved locations depending on your desired aesthetics and proximity.

Additional charges may apply if the location is not within 20 km of City Beach 6015.

What will happen at the session?

Please arrive on time or ten minutes early to your session. We rely on the sun for outdoor photography, and it does not wait for us.

My sessions are relaxed; I prioritize capturing genuine moments over perfectly posed, awkward images. I'll be taking photos almost the entire time we're together, aiming to capture those little, in-between moments. I keep things moving, especially when working with little ones. With families, there's a mix of structured poses and candid, playful shots. There's no set approach; I adapt to the energy and mood of each family.

I strive to make sessions as fun and relaxed as possible while authentically capturing you.

What should we wear?

Wear what you love, and please, be yourself. I don’t believe in styling my clients to perfection. Fashion trends come and go, and when they go, the photos can look inauthentic and strange. If you wear what you love, no matter how casual, you’ll look back with fond memories rather than thinking, “What were we wearing?”

I understand that family photos are important, often a one-off event, and you want to get it right. Think simplicity, comfort, and complementing colors. Avoid dressing too matchy-matchy; everyone in denim and white shirts doesn't always look great. Steer clear of brand names, loud colors like neon, and clothing with pictures. While Peppa Pig may be adorable, it doesn't always translate well in photographs. Consider textures; mixing wools, cottons, lace, silk, and corduroy can add depth and intimacy to your photos. Also, think about whether you'd want those color combinations displayed on your living room wall as a piece of art.

Please, don’t let choosing outfits become overly stressful. I strive to make my photo sessions as fun and stress-free as possible, so you look back with positive memories.

I've personally compiled a Pinterest board that you may find helpful as a guide. This will be provided upon request at the time of booking.

When will I expect my images?

Your photos will be delivered within 4-6 weeks of the photography session.   They will be delivered via an online digital gallery. Please let me know at the time of booking if you require them sooner and depending on my current workload I may be able to accomodate this.

Does it matter if my house is messy?

Life is messy. Your home can be as tidy or as untidy as you'd like. I want you to look back and remember what life was like at that moment. I want you to recall happy, genuine memories, in a home that feels lived-in, not a perfectly clean house with a stressed-out mom.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

I require a non-refundable booking fee of $250 at the time of booking to secure your session date.  The remaining balance is due one week prior to the session date. This amount is non-refundable but is transferable to another date or session.
